根据我平时做翻译的经验，翻译一篇文章时，中文汉字字数与英文单词数的比例一般是1.5-2：1，就是说如果你的老师要求7000单词的英文的话，中文应该至少要5000字以上。不过我觉得到时你可以根据需要调整一下的，例如为了凑字数，你可以不用I think而用in my opinion之类的。当然，如果可以的话，我建议还是直接用英文写可能比较好
