英语作文有严格的格式要求，具体要求如下。

每个句子开头第一个字母需要大写，这是最基本的规范。句号、叹号等后边的单词需要大写首字母，逗号后不用。特殊专用词汇首字母也要大写。整个单词都大写可以起到重点突出的作用。
