分号在国外的文章中或句子中经常使用，以下三个情形清晰告诉你怎么使用分号。

A、它是用于连接两个有些关联，但同时都是独立句子的标点符号。注意逗号是不能连接两个独立的句子的。所谓独立的句子就是主谓宾都有的句子。

e.g.

We can go to the museum to do some research; Mondays are pretty quiet there.

B 、用于连接已经包含逗号的一些列差不多语义的东西。

e.g.

I need the weather statistics for the following cities: London, England; London, Ontario; Paris, France; Paris, Ontario; Perth, Scotland; Perth, Ontario.

C 当用连接副词（比如：moreover, nevertheless, however, otherwise, therefore, then, finally, likewise, and consequently）连接两个句子的时候可以使用分号或句号。

e.g.

I needed to go for a walk and get some fresh air; also, I needed to buy the latest newspaper.
