I extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above. Just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. 　　The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. 　　《THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA》is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway, a very famous America novelist. It's based on a true story. It tells an old fisherman's experience about hunting a huge fish and survived from the sharks. They think he was too old , and should go home. In order to prove himself he decided to go the further distance for big fish. On his way, though he had met lots of dangerous and problems, he didn't give up. At last, he got the big fish. But his boat was too small to contain such a big fish. He had to put the fish out side of his boat. Because the blood of this fish, on his way go back , he was attacked by the sharks. On the battle with the sharks, he used all the tools as the weapons. 　　I really like this novel ,it teach me a lot .I think it's a song for heroism .I lean that not only the solders or any others can become a hero ,but the ordinary people, no matter the old and the young ,the man and the woman, can become the hero ,too. The word in the novel "But people not live for failure, a man can be killed, but never be conquered" is very famous. And it left an impression to me. An old man, in some people's viewpoint, is really pool. Maybe he should just stay at home. But how can he overcome all the troubles, especially in that circumstances? I think it's because his spirit , the spirit of confidence ambition and never give up. A man's power or age would be restricted, but the spirit is freedom.

　　The novel told a story about how the old fisherman Santiago struggled with the sea. Santiago gained a huge fish called Marlin after having drifted in the sea for 84 days. It was a fish that is 2 feet longer than the boat and that had dragged his boat for two days before being stabbed to death. It seemed that the old man wasn’t so successful, because he encountered a shark, struggled with the serious environments, even the only spoil——Marlin just left a skeleton. However, the most important thing is that Santiago had never given up for a moment.

　　In this novel, I am deeply impressed by his persevering. I admire the old fisherman for his steel-like mind and persistence. I think there’s a real young man inside him, although he is at an old age and no longer goes back to his youth. From the strong comparison between the old look and the young heart, we can easily find that it is the positive firm spirits that make us hold our hopes and keep trying all the time and finally guide the roads towards success.

　　Through the vivid description about the struggle between human and nature, Hemingway expresses his opinion that the courage inside human beings can help us face any failure and overcome any difficulty. In the book, the hero Santiago was beat by the shark, which we regard as a symbol of doom, but he chose to struggle with the fortune instead of losing faith in his life. Just the same as the hero Santiago, all of us will meet with various kinds of difficulties in our daily life, which is a rule of human’s fate. 　　In the past a few days, we learned something about a novel called the old man and the sea, after learning it, I have some thoughts about it.

　　The story introduced an old experienced fisherman to us. His name is Santiago. He has not caught any fish for 84 days, so the 85th day, he went to the deep sea, trying to get some fish. It was a hard time when Santiago floated on the sea for almost 3 days in order to catch a big fish called marlin. Finally, he made it. But unfortunately, the smell of blood attracted a lot of sharks. At last, all his effort to drive away the sharks was in vain. His marlin was eaten up, and he still got nothing.

　　Although the consequence was not so good, I still believe that Santiago is a real hero. A hero, not means that he is never afraid of anything, but means that he is really afraid, but he never gives up. This is hero. In addition, his words in this story also impressed me a lot. He said,“man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed, but not defeatded.’’ Perhaps we wish that everything can go well in our daily lives, but as we know, it is only a wish. We are sure to meet some trouble in our whole lives, so we must be brave. We can never give up. No matter how old we are, no matter how unlucky we are,
